SINGER, TEACHER, PRODUCER.

Adrian is a graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London and recipient of the Dame Felicity Lott Bursary. He is the Managing Director of Convivium Records and Convivium Singers and a tenor Lay Clerk at Portsmouth Cathedral.

Adrian has sung with various amateur and professional choirs. As a result, he has been introduced to a wide range of sacred and secular repertoire, from early liturgical music to that of more contemporary composers. He has sung in choirs and as a soloist on recordings released by Hyperion, Signum, NAXOS, Convivium Records and other Labels.

SOLO WORK

Adrian’s experience as a soloist and musician have enabled him to work and sing in many European countries. Further afield, he has performed in America, Australia and New Zealand. He is in increasing demand as a soloist and has recently performed works by Monteverdi, Handel, Purcell, Mozart, Haydn, Vaughan Williams and Carl Orff. Adrian has a particular interest in ‘English Song’ and produced a commercial recording or works by Britten Butterworth, Coates, Elgar, Finzi, Grainger, Gurney, Head, Ireland, Quilter, Somervell, Vaughan Williams, Warlock and others, with pianist Noel Skinner (Released in June 2013). Recent singing teachers and vocal coaches have included Margaret Lobo and Andrew King.

CHORAL

Since graduating from Royal Holloway College, London, Adrian has been a Lay Clerk at Portsmouth Cathedral and is also co-founder of the award-winning choir, Convivium Singers, who have featured on multiple commercial recordings and toured extensively across the UK and Europe. Around this, Adrian sings with the Charpentier Ensemble and a number of other groups.

OUTREACH

Adrian has administered and Portsmouth Cathedral’s chorister outreach and partnership programme since September 2008, which engages with thousands of primary school children a year. Its current format, “Cathedral Sing” involves working in classrooms as well as hosting and facilitating concerts, services and events for performances across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Since 2011, Adrian has been the lead vocal animateur for the programme.

VOCAL COACH

Adrian has worked as a vocal coach at St James Senior Boys School, London (2008-2017), he currently works as a vocal coach at Portsmouth Grammar School (2008-). Alongside this, he teaches privately in Portsmouth.

Adrian is the managing director of Convivium Records (est. 2009).

Convivium Records is committed to working with exceptional artists and composers to record and share their music. It recognises that a great recording project needs to establish a balance between artistic aspirations and commercial expectations. Whilst the majority of its projects result in commercial release, the label also takes on private projects for schools, charities and other institutions.

Convivium Records involves musicians and composers in all decisions relating to their projects, from initial discussions about a new album, to recording, distribution, promotion and marketing. The label’s ambition is to exceed the expectations of their clients by creating recordings that reflect their true potential. At the heart of Convivium Records is a dedicated team who work together to bring their specific areas of expertise to each project as required.

The label has worked with many world-class musicians and ensembles from across Europe and the USA. It has worked in partnership with music publishers, including Oxford University Press, Boosey & Hawkes, The Royal School of Church Music and Subito Music. The label’s current catalogue features contemporary composer discs by Margaret Rizza, Malcolm Archer, Carson Cooman, Dan Locklair, James Erber, György Orbán, Oliver Tarney, June Clark, David Price, Hugh Benham, John White and others.

In his spare time, Adrian is a keen composer. Most of his music is for voice or choir and a number of titles are available commercially.
